This blog will cover a single insight from the “Bhagvad Gita” which will be very useful for everyone .
In the Bhagvad there is something very interesting i.e. “Why Krishna did not tell the Bhagvad Gita to Duryodhana ?” If he had told the Bhagvad Gita to Duryodhana and convinced him not to do all these evil things then , may be he could have avoided the war of Mahabharat!
And as a matter of fact Lord Krishna actually did tried to convince Duryodhana. Many of you would be aware of that episode where once Lord Krishna went to persuade Duryodhana and Lord Krishna said to Duryodhana that the way you are treating the Pandavas is “Adharma” , its unrighteous ,it is morally wrong ! Then, Duryodhana gave a very interesting reply –
Duryodhana said to Lord Krishna – ” Don’t tell me about Dharma or Adharma ! don’t tell me what is right and wrong because that is not my problem …! I know what is right and what is wrong but my problem is “Different” ! My problem is I don’t feel like doing it !!”
I know what is wrong but my problem is I can’t stop myself from doing this!
I know what is Right ! you need not tell me !
न च मे प्रवृत्ति: – I have no interest in Doing it ! I dont feel like Doing it
जानाम्यधर्मं – I know what is wrong , what is bad or what is eveil !
न च मे निवृत्तिः – I can’t stop myself from doing it !
Lord Krishna asks Duryodhanan- ” Why Not? Why can’t you stop?”
Then Duryodhana says – ” केनापि देवेन हृदि स्थितेन यथा नियुक्तोऽस्मि तथा करोमि “
There is some power inside me ! As it is forcing me along ..! whatever it tells me to do , I Do that, I am helpless !! There is a strong tendency in me which make me do certain things which I know its wrong and but i can’t stop do it ! I try and I fail
Sometimes , these days young people say – “Gyan mat do yaar!!!” so kind of similar reply was of Duryodhan!
Arjun also asked the same question to Lord Krishna in the 3rd Chapter of Bhagvad Gita – ” Force by what does a person do wrong things?even if he or she doesnot want to do it !?” what is it that forces someone (बलादिव नियोजित:) who does not want to go on a wrong path but slips away and makes a mistake ??
अथ केन प्रयुक्तोऽयं पापं चरति पूरुष: | अनिच्छन्नपि वार्ष्णेय बलादिव नियोजित: || 36|| atha kena prayukto ’yaṁ pāpaṁ charati pūruṣhaḥ anichchhann api vārṣhṇeya balād iva niyojitaḥ
If we all read it carefully these experiences echo with us !!
Somehow we all face these types of things where we all want to lead our life in a certain way, we make extremely ambitious routine 12 hrs a day we will practice or study or whatever is our job we will discipline and do this and do that …. we all make plans for our daily routine but Somehow ! the whole days goes away just like a bubble burst and we say oh! we will do it next day and we keep on postponing it !!
So we want to lead our life in a particular way but we can’t actually execute it , it just slips away !!! So, Arjun asks the same question to Lord Krishna! Why can’t we lead our life the way we want !! ??
Here the difference between Duryodhana and Arjun lies in this precisely ….!
Duryodhana didnot ask a question but he put it as a matter of fact that ” I can’t help it ,this is the way I am !! “.
However on the contrary !! Arjun asks this as question to Lord Krishna! He say – ” what can I do about it ?? This is what is happening to me , how can I pull myself out of this ??”
Hence , here we are in the position of Arjun asking this question . We would like to know:
1) How to put our lives right ?
2) If I set a target for myself , How can I achieve that ???
These are the questions we have if we are in the position of Arjun !Let’s see what is the answer of Lord Krishna in the NEXT blog!!
